Construction of a Durga Puja Pandal (Stage-4) – Lake Market, Kolkata

Lo and behold! Lord Shiva, the husband of Goddess Durga, has taken his position on one of the double cone wooden structures. The double cone structure symbolizes the ‘Damru’ or ‘Dugdugi’ – the hour glass shaped drum played by Lord Shiva to produce spiritual sounds and is associated with the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva. ┬áIt appears that each wooden structure or ‘Damru’ shall be used as a pedestal on which Lord Shiva shall be seated.
